Prologue

Prologue: Present Day, Thoraean Plains As Hanna and DJ were walking in the general direction that Ace and Jester had pointed them toward, Hanna asked, “So, you still owe me that story about where Lui and EDJ came from. Since it seems like our ever-so-helpful guides have disappeared…again… now would be a perfect time for you to tell me.” DJ laughed and said, “Hey, you’re right. It’s kind of a long story though…” Hanna smirked. “Look at where we’re going.” They were walking along a grassy plain near the beach that seemed to span endlessly. “We’re not getting to wherever it is we’re going for quite a while. Go for it. I like a long story every once in a while anyway.” DJ looked around at their surroundings and rolled his eyes. “True that. Alright, well it all started about seven years ago.” Hanna nodded politely in acknowledgement. “You know I had been living at the academy since I could remember. Which is like from when I was six years old or so. I never knew who my parents were. The school told me that they probably died, but I’ll never really know for sure. They were both lost in action and presumed killed. I was trained there from the time I got accepted, which is why I’m so amazing with pretty much any weapon.” Hanna laughed out loud and said, “Oh, I’m sure. Some day, we’ll put that to the test. I would be quite interested in putting this mastery to the test.” DJ smiled. “Deal. Anyway, I was one of the top students in the school, let along in my own class. I had access to some of the highest level missions that were available in the academy, and I had near-first pick on anything I wanted. The day before my thirteenth birthday, a top-security mission in Ireland opened up, and Jake, my partner at the time, and I jumped on the chance to go. Ireland was the one place I always wanted to go, but I had never had the chance to until then.” “Your favorite place on your birthday? That’s pretty epic, even if it was for work stuff. What about Ireland made it so intriguing to you?” Hanna asked. As they walked idly, she bent down and picked up a tiny yellow flower, turning it around in her fingers a few times before freezing the petals one by one. DJ watched the flower as it fell to the ground with a soft thud and muttered to himself, “Poor flower…” He picked up another flower and looked at it for a second before answering Hanna’s query. “My mom was part-Irish, from what I was told about her, so I have the blood in me. I wanted to see if I could find any information about her. Sometimes they give us a little free time wherever we go if we get done early. I usually did, haha. But that mission was what started it all…”

A Leap in Time and a Forewarning of the Future

Dear Hero,
Congratulations! You have once again attracted the attention of Organization Grandfather. You don’t know who we are, but we most certainly know who you are. And thanks to your involvement with certain investigations, we’ve had to step in. Now look at what’s happened. Your precious bride is dead, and there’s nothing you can do to save her. Unless you want this to continue with your other, I suggest that you leave immediately and meet me on the fourth floor of the parking garage on Windsor and Crest. And come alone, or the killing will continue.

Part Six

It's good to be back writing again ^_^ (I have a bunch of exciting posts coming up for the summer!)

(while DJ and Lui are escaping the foot soldiers near the destroyed bunker)

Two of Yashev’s surviving guards led the blindfolded clown down the rough path leading toward the river, each one holding one of his arms tightly. As they walked by the light of the moon, Yashev led out a long string of curses in Arabic. “We cannot allow the clone to remain blindfolded like this, or he might end up blind! I need this one at full strength if we are to use him for future experiments!”
The clone looked up toward Yashev and laughed sarcastically. “Yeah, you heard the man. I promise I won’t tell anyone where your destroyed playhouse is or anything…”
One of the guards slapped him in the face hard and said, “No talking, unless you have no sentimental attachment of that tongue of yours. It would make a delightful snack for the fishies.” The other guard laughed cruelly.
Yashev stopped suddenly and turned to face the guard. “And you will not lay another hand on him unless you would like to be fed personally to the lions back at my estate. Now, remove his blindfold and allow him to walk with me for a few minutes, if you would be so kind to our young guest.”
The guard nodded and replied, “Yes, sir.” He untied the blindfold and smirked at the clone. “Your master would have a word with you, boy. Hehehe.”
The clone smiled slightly. “Oh, thank you for telling me, mister. I hadn’t actually heard. By your leave then, good man.” He walked up to Yashev and grinned. “You might invest in trained monkeys next time…I’d say that they would be an improvement over what you have now,” he said mockingly.
Yashev laughed and said, “You have a sense of humor just like your Original. I trust that you’re doing all right with our little walk tonight?”
“I don’t know, I’m kinda new to all this walking stuff sir…yeah, I’m just fine thanks. What, exactly, were you expecting after half an hour?” The clone rolled his eyes and sighed.
The large man clasped his hands together behind his back as they walked together.” I was just checking up on you, son. I have read stories about similar experiments in which new clones become physically exhausted after being pushed too hard too soon after creation,” Yashev answered calmly. “Anyhow, we’re almost to the boat that we’re going to use on the river. We need to take a little trip to see my old Grandfather.” The guards behind Yashev and the clone smirked at the mention of Grandfather.
“I’m pretty sure I have no idea what you’re talking about, but sure…sure, let’s go,” the clone said. “Not as if I have much choice, right?” He grinned at Yashev as he shook his head.
“Exactly!” Yashev laughed again and said, “I think we’ll get along just fine, my young friend.”
The clone smiled. “That doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that I’m worth a whole lot of money to you, does it?” he asked.
Yashev grinned widely, revealing a row of gold teeth. “Like I said, we’ll get along just fine.”
“At least you’re honest about it,” the clone said, laughing. The guards walking behind both chuckled quietly. Yashev frowned and turned to give them each a harsh glance, after which they looked away quickly and kept their mouths closed for the rest of the walk.
Yashev turned back to EDJ, his light attitude suddenly gone and a scowl on his face instead. “The day I am dishonest will be the day this world is destroyed and all the infidels living here along with it.”
The clone blinked twice, and then allowed a slight smile. “In that case, may we both live long and prosperous lives, good sir.”
“Shorter than you might expect, with any luck, boy.” Yashev smirked sadly and shook his head. “At least if our plans actually work the way they’re supposed to.” He looked up and saw the glistening reflection of the moon out over the river. “Ah, here’s where the trail ends for us tonight. We’ll just be walking along the shoreline for a few minutes…the boat should be just around this bend in the river.”
The clone nodded politely and followed Yashev as they walked down the narrow path along the river bank. Despite the fast-moving current of the water, the river looked calm and serene. As the group walked single file downstream, the clone suddenly felt chills run down his spine and a voice came into his head. “What in the world was that?!” it asked incredulously. The clone held his head between his hands and shook it back and forth, as if he was in pain.
“I’m too young to be losing it already…so what’s going on here?” the clone demanded.
“Woah, it talks back! I have absolutely no idea what’s going on here either, so don’t ask me…”
Yashev looked curiously at the clone with a furrowed brow. The clone smiled back at him and swatted the air around his head. “Dumb mosquitos…” As Yashev turned back, apparently satisfied with that explanation, the clone thought, “Ok then, let’s just start with the basics here. Who, or what, are you exactly?”
The voice responded, sounding very close to offended. “I’m not a what! I’m the feared mercenary and epic hero, DJ! Who are you?”
“You mean to say that you’re actually ‘the’ DJ? As in my Original DJ?”
DJ thought, “You’re the other clone! Where are you? I have the first clone here with me!” And in a voice that sounded very staticky and far off, the clone could hear DJ say out loud, “Lui! The other clone and I can hear each other’s thoughts!”
“I’m with the weird crazy dude who thinks I’m the answer to all his problems…and we’re by the river heading to a boat, I think. By the way, is Lui the Other that’s with you?” Yashev looked back at the clone and asked a question that he didn’t catch because he was listening to DJ, so he just smiled and nodded his head, pretending to be tired.
Yashev said, “Well, it’s just a bit further, as soon as we get past this peninsula.” The clone smiled and nodded again, and tried to focus on DJ.
“Yeah, Lui’s the…other Other, I guess. Well, your friend Yashev there’s gonna get a nice surprise when he gets to that boat. You’re not going to get too far on it, courtesy of Jake.”
“Just lovely…let’s just say that he had better not take this out on me.”
“Oh, I’ll make sure you’re all right. We’ll head towards you, just keep him occupied and we’ll get there in a few minutes. From what I can tell, we’re just downstream of the boat’s position.”
“Sure, sure. Make it snappy, this guy’s creeping me out big time.” The clone rolled his eyes and pushed past a stray branch hanging over the path. “So, Yashev, what can you tell me about that grandpa dude you said we’re going to see?”
Yashev smiled slowly and said, “First, how is it that you know what my name is when I haven’t told you? And second, I think it’s fair enough for me to say that the less you know about Grandfather, the better off you’re going to be. At least for now.”
The clone blinked, caught in his mistake. “Um…I heard one of the guards say it earlier and I figured that it must be you. Is that ok?” “Remind me not to repeat things I hear you say again…you almost got me killed with that!”
“Not my fault there dude….who apparently needs a name after we rescue him…” came the response.
Just as Yashev was going to respond, they came around the corner and Yashev smiled broadly, the moon glinting off his metallic grin. “Ah! Here we are at the…boat…” he trailed off suddenly.

Part Five

[Sometime later…]

(DJ) Ugh…what…happened? *opens his eyes slowly* Aaah! *is startled by the clone sitting next to him, leaning slightly over his face*

(Clone) Oh, you’re awake! *backs up a little and helps DJ sit up*

(DJ) Thanks. Umm…you ok?

(Clone) I think so. *smiles* How about you?

(DJ) I feel alright, considering we just missed being blown up. How long was I out?

(Clone) Umm…after I woke up, you were maybe ten, fifteen minutes? Not too long, I guess.

(DJ) Ok. *looks up* Woah, the sun’s already starting to set! It’s probably five or six o’clock by now. What happened to that crazy terrorist? And Jake…and the other clone…are they…*looks back at the remnants of the bunker* were they…still in there?

(Clone) No, they came and took the other guy away when the first explosions started.

(DJ) Hmm, well at least the other one’s safe for the time being. I hope Jake made it out too…this is all so crazy.

(Clone) Yeah. So, what do we do now?

(DJ) I guess we try to get out of the forest and to the nearest town…from there, I don’t know. *hears a rustling noise a few dozen yards off and stops* Get down, quickly!

(Clone) *ducks down* What is it?

(DJ) I’m not sure, but I highly doubt it’s anything good. The bunker was way too isolated for anyone else to have heard the explosion. *quickly looks around the area* Can you look and see if there’s anything around we could use as a weapon if we had to?

(Clone) Umm…sure… *looks through the rubble*

(DJ) Shh! *peeks up and sees a guard in the distance, walking toward them* Uh-oh, definitely not good. *looks more carefully and sees more guards searching the area* Hey, I think we’ve got company here!

(Clone) Yeah? Probably not the friendly kind either…ah, here we go. *picks up a long piece of pipe* How’s that?

(DJ) *shrugs* That works, for now. Come on, we can’t stay in this opening.

(Clone) Ok. *starts walking toward DJ, but notices something in the rubble and picks it up*

(DJ) *turns around* You coming?

(Clone) *puts the object in his pocket and continues following DJ* I’m coming.

*DJ and the clone slowly move to the edge of the woods, toward the guards*

(Clone) *as he’s walking, he steps on a small branch and breaks it, the noise echoing through the clearing* *several guards hear the noise and turn toward DJ and the clone, guns raised, although they cannot see either of the boys at first* Oops…

(DJ) *dives toward the ground* Hurry! *they both crawl toward the tree line and reach it safely* Now, we wait. As soon as the guard gets near, hit him with that pipe and follow me!

(Clone) *chuckles nervously* Ok.

(DJ) Heh, he’ll never see it coming.

(Clone) *as the guard approaches, the clone leans against a tree, hidden from the guard’s sight* How close?

(DJ) *looks up through the brush* You’ve got five seconds until he’s on top of you, at the rate he’s moving.

(Clone) Got it. *counts down silently, then swings the pipe blindly out from behind the tree, connecting solidly with the guard’s stomach, doubling him over from the unexpected pain*

(DJ) Now! *jumps out and smashes the guard’s chin with his fist, knocking him out cold* Follow me! *takes off away from the explosion site, with the clone hard on his heels*

(Clone) Look out! *several of the guards turn and fire toward them, narrowly missing*

(DJ) *ducks, as a bullet slams into a tree inches above his head* Thanks!

(Clone) *giggles* No problem.

*After a few minutes, the two stop and rest behind a large boulder*

(DJ) I think we lost ‘em. Good job back there, buddy.

(Clone) You too! That was pretty exciting, actually.

(DJ) Haha, try not to get too used to it.

(Clone) Good idea. Hey, I don’t know your name yet.

(DJ) Oh yeah, I forgot. I’m DJ.

(Clone) *smiles* Cool. I’m….umm…I don’t actually have a name.

(DJ) Well, we have to come up with something then. *laughs* Can’t have you going around without a name!

(Clone) *giggles* You’re right. Any ideas?

(DJ) *looks at the clone, who has already started to shift appearances* Hmm…you sort of look like a Matthew. How’s that?

(Clone) Matthew…nah, I don’t really like that one.

(DJ) Ok…how about…Keith.

(Clone) Eww. *giggles* Sorry.

(DJ) Heh, no problem. *thinks* How about…

(Clone) *interrupts* Oh! I just remembered! *pulls the object out of his pocket* I found this in the rubble. *tosses it to DJ*

(DJ) Oh, it’s my keychain. It’s not burnt up or anything! How did you find it?

(Clone) Oh, I noticed the green part on it. It stuck out from all the rest of the stuff, because it wasn’t all black.

(DJ) *looks down* Hey, this is my Luigi hat! Melody gave that to me.

(Clone) Melody?

(DJ) *smiles* She’s my friend from back home. We’ve known each other since she started going to the same school I did five years ago. *looks back up at the clone* I’ve got it! How about we call you ‘Lui’?

(Clone) I like that. *thinks* Lui…that’s a good name.

(DJ) Awesome! Lui it is, then.

(Lui) *giggles* Yay! Well then, we should get you back to your friend Melody before she starts to worry about you.

(DJ) *nods* Yeah, that’s a good idea. But I have to go back and look for my other friend, Jake, first. And it might be good if we could find the other clone.

(Lui) Oh yeah, that’s right. He needs a name too!

(DJ) Quite true. You sure you’re up to going back though?

(Lui) As long as you are, I’m ready. It’s too dangerous with all those guards to go alone. *winks* Especially since I’m the one with the weapon!

(DJ) *laughs* Fair enough. Let’s go, then.

Updated Part One

I've made a few changes to part one, after a few ideas presented themselves to me (thanks to BBM for her help as well). So here's the updated first chapter.
--------------------------------------

-Martial Academy, 4:30 AM; October 21st, 2002-

(Unknown character) *enters dormitory room* Hey DJ! Wake up…we need to get over to the mission office quick if we want to get assigned to that job in Ireland you were talking about! Come on!

(DJ) [just waking up] Ugh…just a minute Jake. *groggily sits up* I don’t think that mission would have been claimed this early. It’s only, what, *looks at clock* 4:30 in the morning? You’re the only cadet that would be up this time of the morning.

(Jake) Should I have not woken you up? You were the one talking about how great the Ireland mission sounded last night. I just wanted to make sure we got it. Consider this an early birthday present for you! Now come on, let’s go already!

(DJ) I don’t know how you do it Jake…I’m still dead tired. Tell you what: you go on over to the mission office, and I’ll be there in a few minutes. I’ve just got to get my things together first.

(Jake) Alright. *exits room and jogs toward the mission office*

[4:35 AM]

(Mission office aide) Yes, the mission in Ireland is still available.

(Jake) Great! I’d like to accept it, along with DJ.

(MO aide) I will need to see your ID cards to make sure you both have proper clearance for this assignment.

(Jake) Ok. *hands aide his ID* DJ should be here in a minute…

(MO aide) *takes card and enters it into computer* Alright, Jake, it looks like you are all set.

(DJ) *enters the mission office* I’m here. *walks over to counter and gives ID card to aide*

(MO aide) Good morning. *enters card into computer* Ok, you’re ready to go, DJ. I’ll print out two briefing reports for you.

(Jake) Yes! This should be a good one.

(MO aide) Just don’t forget that you’re still on assignment…this is a serious mission. Ah, your reports are ready. *hands reports to DJ*

(DJ) Yes ma’am, we won’t forget. *turns to Jake* So, when do you want to leave? It’s about a four-hour flight if we get a good speeder.

(Jake) It should take us about half an hour to get our gear ready and sign out a speeder. How about we leave at six o’clock? That way we’ll have a little extra time to do stuff before we leave.

(DJ) That sounds good to me. *Hands Jake one of the briefing reports* I’ll see you in an hour or so. *DJ and Jake leave the mission office* *as DJ is walking back toward the dorms, he suddenly stops* Oh no! Melody! *facepalm*

[5:30 AM]

(DJ) *finishes packing things up and walks to the lounge on the west side of the academy, near the ladies’ section* I hope she won’t mind this too much. I can’t believe I forgot about taking her out tonight…I’m so dead. *arrives at the lounge, sits down at one of the tables, and pulls out his breakfast* Well, I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

[5:45 AM]

(Girl) *walks into the lounge and over to the table DJ is sitting at* *smiles* Morning, DJ! I hope you have a good reason for dragging me away from my dreams.

(DJ) *gets up and gives the girl a hug* Hi Melody! I’m sorry for waking you so early, but it is for a good reason, trust me. *both he and Melody sit down at the table, and DJ hands her a cinnamon bun out of his bag*

(Melody) My favorite! You must have something important then. Is it about tonight?

(DJ) I’m afraid so. You remember the Ireland trip Jake and I were talking about earlier, right? He signed us on to it this morning…

(Melody) He did?! But what about our dinner?

(DJ) It completely slipped my mind until I got out of the office. And you know how it is…no backing out now.

(Melody) *sighs* I know. Well, you owe me one now! I expect an extra-special dinner when you get back!

(DJ) *smiles* Definitely. Thanks for understanding…I really appreciate it.

(Melody) I know how much you were looking forward to this. I also want to do another training session with you afterwards, just so you know.

(DJ) Let me think about that one… *pretends to look in an organizer* Yup, I think I can pencil you in! *laughs*

(Melody) *giggles* Yay! It’ll be fun, I promise! I’ve been practicing, you know.

(DJ) Can’t wait! *pager goes off* Woah, I’ve got to head over to the garage pretty quick. I’ll see you when I get back!

(Melody) Alright. Just promise me you’ll be safe, ok?

(DJ) I promise. *squeezes Melody’s hand and gets up* Love you!

(Melody) Love you too. *smiles*

(DJ) *waves* Bye… *leaves the lounge*
-----------------------------------------------------------------

[9:10 AM] -Somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean-

(Jake) I can’t believe you managed to get us one of the proto-experimental speeders! This thing’s going almost 900 miles an hour!

(DJ) It is pretty incredible, isn’t it? At this rate, we’ll be there half an hour early. That should actually give us time to pick up souvenirs or something for once. I can’t remember the last time we’ve been able to do that! I definitely have to find something for Melody after this morning.

(Jake) I know! They really keep us on a busy schedule with these things, don’t they?

(DJ) They sure do. Hey, since we’re almost there, we ought to go over the mission details again just to make sure we don’t forget anything. First, we’re landing just outside Letterkenny, where we’ll meet our contact for the mission. We’ll be debriefed, and then transported to the basic area of the bunker we have to find. They haven’t found the actual location because of some sort of radar jamming, I guess. Not to mention it’s a heavily wooded area.

(Jake) Then, we scout out the area around the bunker, disable any security measures they have, and look for any alternate entrances. And then we infiltrate from the least guarded entrance.

(DJ) If we find that infiltration via their entrances doesn’t work, we may have to create a way in. The group we’re meeting has already planned for this and will be providing us certain tools to aid us in this possibility.

(Jake) I hope you mean explosives. Because that would be awesome!

(DJ) Haha, that it would. At any rate, once we get inside the bunker, we’re supposed to enter negotiations with the leader. We’ve been asked to keep the casualties to a minimum, in order to learn as much as we can from them. This is one of the key cells in the AETO, and the information we get from this op could be vital in saving thousands of lives.

(Jake) Yeah, I understand. Just try not to be too serious, DJ.

(DJ) Fair enough. I just want you to not be too reckless at the same time. Alright, time to initiate the landing sequence…we’re almost over land now. We’ll be on the ground in less than five minutes. You ready for this?

Part Four (completed)

[12: 20]

(Yashev) *returns back to the holding room DJ is in, accompanied by two guards* Hello again, my young friend. It seems that the machine is in perfect order, so it’s time for you to come join us in the laboratory.

(DJ) Cool. Does this mean I’m going to go down in history as the first person ever to be duplicated, or whatever this thing does?

(Yashev) We don’t even know if it works on humans yet…there’s a good chance you could be killed during a failure of some sort. And even if it does work, there can be some pretty nasty side effects…but I won’t get into those right now. No need to get all worked up about minor details, right?

(DJ) Whatever you say, doc.

(Yashev) Good, then we’re all done here. Guards, take him to chamber A.

(Guards) *in unison* Yes sir! *guards unchain DJ from the wall and carry him into the lab area*

(DJ) Wow, I even get personal escorts! Talk about living the high life.

(Yashev) Ugh, I can’t stand your incessant babbling any more. Can someone please sedate him? Besides, we don’t want a struggle.

(Scientist) Of course. *carries syringe with a heavy sedative in it and injects DJ with it*

(DJ) Ooh, picky. *the drug works quickly, and in a matter of seconds, DJ is unconscious again*

(Yashev) Thank you. Now, shall we continue? Just put him into the duplicator pod, please.

*guards carry the now limp DJ and place him in the duplicator pod*

(Scientist) *walks back over to computer station* All ready, sir?

(Yashev) Yes, let’s get this moving before sleeping beauty over there pulls something. Start it up.

(Scientist) Aye, sir. *initates the duplicator, and flashes of light can be seen coming from the pod* Now, we’re supposed to leave it alone until the lights stop, and then we initiate the safety release of the other pods.

(Yashev) And about how long do you think this will take?

(Scientist) Typically around ten to twenty minutes, sir.

(Yashev) *rolls eyes* Great. *walks over to waiting area and sits down*

[12:52]

(Yashev) *very impatiently* You said it should have been done by now! What’s going on here?!

(Scientist) I…I’m sorry sir! We’ve h..hit some unexpected delays with the procedure! It shouldn’t be more than a few more minutes.

(Yashev) It’d better not! Or else I’ll be needing a replacement for your position…and somewhere to dump a body. *suddenly, the lights on the machine go out and the computer monitor flashes a ‘complete’ message* Ah, it looks like you’ll be staying with us after all. Release pods B and C into the safety chamber.

(Scientist) Y..yes sir! *hurries over to the computer and opens the chambers*

*As the doors open, one body steps out of each pod into the steamy Plexiglas-enclosed viewing area. Both of the clones step forward simultaneously and look out through the glass, their minds racing with new thoughts and emotions*

(Yashev) It worked! Two perfect duplicates! And they look exactly like DJ as well! I suppose they’ll shape-shift a little as we train them, and that’ll be good. How does that work exactly?

(Scientist) As they are trained, they change form to match the emotions and feelings they have. The shifting ends after about a week, so this needs to be done quickly. However, we can pretty much manipulate their environment to form them however we want. We should hurry and get them into their computer-generated holding facilities before they retain too many memories of this. But whatever we do, we CANNOT let them get in the same room as the original. That would have immensely bad effects on our clones.

(Yashev) I see. *calls to guards* Please escort these two to their rooms. And do it gently. We don’t need them having any negative thoughts just yet.

*guards come and move the clones to holding rooms with computer-generated environments*

(Yashev) Excellent. Now, let’s deal with the original. Hopefully he survived the procedure…we’ll need him if we’re to proceed with the building of our army of clones. This is a huge success for us…they’ll never suspect a thing until it’s far too late! Things are going exactly as planned.

(Scientist) Aye, sir. *walks over to the pod where DJ is and presses the release button to open it*

(DJ) *as the door opens, DJ quickly strikes the scientist, dropping him to the floor* HA! For Melody!

(Yashev) YOU! I KNEW the project took too long…the sedative wore off already…ah well, it matters not. *slams his fist into the alarm mechanism* You’re too late! *the two guards burst into the room, guns drawn* Now, surrender or I’ll be forced to kill you! And we both know that that won’t work for either of us.

(DJ) Never! *dives forward and rolls toward Yashev, landing a hard blow to his stomach as he comes out of the roll*

(Yashev) Ugh… *staggers backwards* Get him! Shoot! *the guards open fire, but DJ dives out of the way* *instead of hitting DJ, the bullets find their way to the open pod* No! *instantly, the machine catches on fire* It’s gonna blow! Get out of here! *starts running, leaving DJ and the guards in the room*

(DJ) Hey! I’m not through with you yet! Coward! *looks over at the two guards, who are trying to decide whether to shoot at DJ again or run* Shoo! Get out of here before I decide to kill you where you stand!

*At that moment, the first machine explodes, sending shrapnel toward everyone, shattering the plexiglass and catching the other machines on fire* *the guards look at each other, then run after Yashev toward the exit*

(DJ) Yeah, that’s right! I’d better get out of here myself…but I need to get those duplicates out first. *looks at the control panel for the bunker* Ah, this thing’s too complicated! *starts hitting everything on the panel, but the other pods explode and short out the entire building’s power* Aack! I hope whatever I did worked…I’ve got to get out quick, before the entire building comes down! Hopefully the others can find their way out *shouts* HEY! If you can here me, get out of the bunker! It’s gonna burn down! *starts running cautiously toward where he thinks the exit is*

(Yashev) *stands outside the bunker with the two guards and one of the clones* We can rebuild somewhere else! We have this clone, so DJ has no real use, I suppose. Better cut my losses…sorry, my friend. *activates timed explosives around the bunker* Now, let’s get out of here before the entire thing goes up!

(DJ) Aha! There’s sunlight up there, that’s got to be the exit! *as he’s running toward the light, he suddenly bumps into someone else, knocking him over* Look out!

(??) Ow!

(DJ) *stops dead, because the person sounds exactly like he does* You…you’re one of the clones! *helps him up* We’ve got to get out of here!

(Clone) Ok. *lets DJ lead him out of the bunker*

(DJ) Come on! *as the pair reaches the forest, the entire bunker explodes and is blown to hundreds of pieces, throwing them both to the ground*

Part Four (mostly)

Apologies once again for being so tardy to the party (just in case you're reading, C... XD ) with this. Being busy with school, more school, getting ready to move, and more school means I've had next to no time for writing. And I'm considering making a change from pure dialogue to more third-person. So the next time I post, it might be in a completely different way than last time. Enjoy (what little I have to offer)!
